Indications
Flonorm 400 mg is indicated for the treatment of intestinal infections caused by rifaximin-sensitive bacteria, including traveler's diarrhea and bacterial overgrowth in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Additionally, it is used in the prevention of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with chronic liver disease. Rifaximin acts locally in the intestine, inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria and reducing toxin production, which contributes to the improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms.
Composition
Each Flonorm tablet contains 400 mg of rifaximin as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Flonorm is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rifaximin or any of the product's excipients. It should also be avoided in cases of bloody diarrhea, high fever, or symptoms of dehydration. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with rifaximin. It is important to monitor treatment response and consider discontinuation if there is no improvement. Flonorm should not be used as a treatment for systemic infections.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 °C and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
