Indications

Flonorm is indicated for the treatment of intestinal infections caused by rifaximin-sensitive bacterial strains. Specifically, it is used for the treatment of traveler's diarrhea, as well as in the management of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. It has also been used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, contributing to the reduction of episodes of confusion and mental deterioration associated with this condition. Flonorm acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract, which minimizes systemic absorption and side effects in other organs.

Composition

Each Flonorm tablet contains 200 mg of rifaximin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as lactose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

Flonorm is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rifaximin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with intestinal obstruction or colitis, as well as in those with severe renal insufficiency. Furthermore, it should not be used in combination with medicines that may cause an increase in the systemic absorption of rifaximin.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Flonorm to patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those who present symptoms of persistent or bloody diarrhea. It is important to monitor patients for possible adverse reactions and evaluate the efficacy of the treatment. If no improvement is observed within a reasonable period, the initial diagnosis should be reconsidered.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
