Indications
Filatil (Filgrastim) is indicated for the prevention of neutropenia (low white blood cell count) in patients receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy. It is also used in patients with acute myeloid leukemia who require an increase in neutrophil production, as well as in those with Felty's syndrome. This medication can be administered in situations of HIV/AIDS-related neutropenia and in cases of bone marrow transplantation, where hematopoietic recovery is needed. Filgrastim works by stimulating the production and release of neutrophils in the bone marrow, thus contributing to the patient's immune response.
Composition
Each Filatil syringe contains 300 mcg of filgrastim as the active ingredient. In addition, it contains excipients that facilitate the stability and administration of the medication.
Contraindications
Filatil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to filgrastim or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with myeloproliferative disorders or in those who have shown severe adverse reactions to other hematopoietic growth factors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Filatil to patients with a history of pulmonary diseases, such as chronic obstructive diseases, as they may have a higher risk of pulmonary adverse effects. It is also recommended to monitor white blood cell counts and liver function during treatment.
Storage
Store in refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light.
