Indications
Ferricol is a nutritional supplement indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron and folic acid deficiency. It is used in cases of iron deficiency anemia, especially in vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and people with restricted diets. Additionally, it may be recommended in situations of increased iron needs, such as during childhood growth, heavy menstruation, or chronic diseases affecting the absorption of these nutrients. Its suspension formulation facilitates administration in patients who may have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules.
Composition
Each 10 ml of suspension contains 600 mg of iron (as ferrous sulfate) and 10 mg of folic acid.
Contraindications
Ferricol is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should also be avoided in cases of hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis, and any other condition involving iron overload. Its use is not recommended in patients with gastrointestinal diseases that may affect iron absorption.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or those undergoing treatment with other iron supplements, to avoid iron toxicity. Monitoring of blood iron levels during treatment is important. Consult a doctor if unusual symptoms occur during the use of the product.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
