Indications
Exelon Patch 9 mg is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease and dementia associated with Parkinson's disease. This medication acts as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, which helps to improve cognitive function and daily abilities in patients suffering from these conditions. Its use is recommended for patients who experience difficulties with memory, thinking, and the ability to perform daily activities. It is important to carry out an appropriate clinical evaluation to determine the suitability of initiating rivastigmine therapy.
Composition
Each patch contains 9 mg of rivastigmine as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that allow for its proper formulation and drug release through the skin.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rivastigmine or to any of the components of the formulation. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems, especially those with ulcers or bleeding.
Precautions
Liver and kidney function should be carefully evaluated before initiating treatment, as these factors can influence drug elimination. Patients should be monitored for the possible appearance of adverse effects, and the dose should be adjusted if significant adverse reactions occur. In case of severe gastrointestinal symptoms, discontinuation of treatment should be considered.
