Indications
Eturion is indicated for the reduction of elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides in adults with primary or mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used for the prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients, including those with a history of coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and other cardiovascular risk factors. Atorvastatin acts by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which is responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver, contributing to the reduction of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) concentrations and an increase in high-density lipoproteins (HDL).
Composition
Each Eturion tablet contains 20 mg of atorvastatin as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as lactose, corn starch, and other inactive components that allow for the drug's formulation.
Contraindications
Eturion is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the formulation's components. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, elevated serum transaminase levels, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, myopathy, or rhabdomyolysis. Patients treated with other medications that may interact with atorvastatin, as well as those with risk factors for developing myopathy, should be monitored. Liver function tests are recommended before starting treatment and periodically throughout treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
