Indications

Escolam is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes and generalized anxiety disorder. Escitalopram acts as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), which helps to increase the amount of serotonin available in the brain, contributing to an improved mood and reduced anxiety. It can also be used in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders and in the management of panic disorders, as evaluated by a healthcare professional.

Composition

Each Escolam tablet contains 20 mg of escitalopram as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to escitalopram or any component of the product. Its use is not recommended in patients receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in those with a history of mania or hypomania.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Escolam to patients with a history of seizures, bleeding disorders, or those who may be at risk of suicide. Continuous monitoring of the patient during treatment is important, especially at the beginning or after dose changes. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Storage

Store the medication in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. The storage temperature should not exceed 30 °C.
