Indications
Eritrovier S Suspension is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to erythromycin. These infections may include:
- Upper respiratory tract infections, such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
- Lower respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia and bronchitis.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Sexually transmitted infections, such as urethritis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.
- Gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Erythromycin acts by inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria, leading to the disruption of their growth and reproduction.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains 250 mg of erythromycin in the form of erythromycin stearate.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to erythromycin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice or severe hepatic dysfunction attributable to erythromycin.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disorders, as erythromycin is metabolized by the liver. Monitoring of liver function is recommended during treatment. Furthermore, the use of this medication should be considered in patients who are taking other medications that may interact with erythromycin, such as certain antihistamines and anticoagulants.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
