Indications
Erythromycin is indicated in the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to erythromycin. This includes, but is not limited to, respiratory infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis. It is also used in skin and soft tissue infections, as well as urinary tract infections. This antibiotic is effective against certain types of Gram-positive bacteria, as well as some Gram-negative bacteria. In addition, it is used in the treatment of Chlamydia infections and for the prophylaxis of infections in patients allergic to penicillin.
Composition
Each Erythromycin tablet contains 500 mg of erythromycin in the form of erythromycin stearate. In addition, the formulation includes excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate, which facilitate the absorption and stability of the medication.
Contraindications
Erythromycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to erythromycin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of severe liver disease or in those who are receiving medications that may interact with erythromycin, such as certain anticonvulsants and antifungals.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, as erythromycin is metabolized in the liver. In addition, it is recommended to evaluate renal function before starting treatment and during its use. In case of adverse effects such as persistent diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered, which may require discontinuation of treatment.

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
