Indications
Ebixa (memantine) is indicated for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease in patients with moderate to severe cognitive impairment. This medication acts as an NMDA receptor antagonist, which helps regulate glutamate activity in the brain, a neurotransmitter that may be involved in neurodegeneration. The use of Ebixa can contribute to improving cognitive function and the ability to perform daily activities in patients with this condition. Continuous medical follow-up is recommended to evaluate treatment efficacy and adjust doses as needed.
Composition
Each Ebixa tablet contains 20 mg of memantine, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
Ebixa is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to memantine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min) and in those receiving other medications containing sodium or that may affect renal function.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures, cardiovascular diseases, liver problems, as well as those with a history of pulmonary diseases. Ebixa administration should be supervised by a physician, who will evaluate the risks and benefits in each specific case. Regular monitoring of the patient's condition during treatment is essential.
