Indications

Drastep is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to clindamycin. It is commonly used in the management of respiratory tract infections, ear infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as dental infections. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections and in patients with penicillin allergy, where clindamycin may be an effective alternative.

Composition

Each ampoule of Drastep 300 mg/2 mL contains clindamycin phosphate as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

Drastep should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to clindamycin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of antibiotic-associated colitis, as well as in those with severe gastrointestinal disorders.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Drastep to patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. It is advisable to monitor renal and hepatic function during treatment, as well as to be alert for any signs of allergic reaction or adverse effects. Clindamycin can alter the intestinal flora and potentially lead to superinfections by Clostridium difficile.

Storage

Drastep should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light and at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
