Indications
Diltiazem is indicated in the treatment of essential hypertension and angina pectoris, especially in patients who do not respond adequately to other antihypertensives. This medication acts as a calcium channel blocker, which helps to dilate blood vessels and decrease peripheral vascular resistance, resulting in a reduction in blood pressure. In addition, it is used in the management of certain cardiac arrhythmias, such as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, and in the treatment of variant (Prinzmetal's) angina.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Diltiazem 30 mg, excipients: lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diltiazem or to any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe heart failure, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, sick sinus syndrome, and in those with low blood pressure (hypotension).
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of hepatic or renal insufficiency, as well as in those who are receiving other antihypertensive medications or who have conditions that may increase the risk of bradycardia. Blood pressure and heart rate should be monitored regularly during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
