Indications
Dilatrend (Carvedilol) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, as well as chronic heart failure. It is also used in the management of patients with ventricular dysfunction after an acute myocardial infarction. Its combined action of adrenergic blockade and vasodilation allows for a decrease in blood pressure and an improvement in cardiac function, which results in an improvement in the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular conditions. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions and have regular blood pressure and cardiac function checks during treatment.
Composition
Each Dilatrend tablet contains 6.25 mg of carvedilol as the active ingredient. Additionally, excipients such as lactose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medicine are included.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to carvedilol or any of the excipients. It should not be administered in cases of severe bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, decompensated heart failure, bronchial asthma, or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Likewise, it should be avoided in patients with severe liver diseases.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with diabetes mellitus, as carvedilol may mask the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Care should also be taken in patients with previous cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure or cardiac conduction problems. Liver and kidney function should be evaluated before starting treatment and during its use.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
