Indications

Diamicron is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise are not sufficient to control blood sugar. It is used in patients who are not adequately controlled with metformin alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics. Gliclazide acts by stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreas, thereby improving glycemic control in diabetic patients. This medication can be administered alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics.

Composition

Each Diamicron tablet contains 60 mg of gliclazide as the active ingredient. In addition, it contains excipients such as corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that facilitate tablet formulation.

Contraindications

Diamicron is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gliclazide or any of the product's excipients. It is also contraindicated in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, and in patients with severe liver or kidney disease. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, renal or hepatic insufficiency. Blood glucose monitoring is important, as there is a risk of hypoglycemia, especially in combination with other antidiabetics. Dose adjustment is recommended in case of changes in diet, exercise, or the patient's clinical condition.

Storage

Diamicron should be stored in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
