Indications
Dexivant (dexlansoprazole) is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults. This medication acts as a proton pump inhibitor, reducing acid production in the stomach and helping to alleviate symptoms associated with acid reflux, such as heartburn and regurgitation. Additionally, it is indicated for the healing of erosive esophagitis caused by GERD, and for the maintenance of remission in patients with this condition. Its use is especially effective in patients who require prolonged control of gastric acidity and who may benefit from the reduction of gastric acid during the day and night.
Composition
Each Dexivant capsule contains 30 mg of dexlansoprazole, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Dexivant is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dexlansoprazole or to any of the product's excipients. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other proton pump inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those who present symptoms that may suggest gastric cancer, since treatment with dexlansoprazole could mask the symptoms. In addition, the risk of gastrointestinal infections and long-term nutritional deficiencies, such as hypomagnesemia, should be considered.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
