Indications
Curosurf is indicated for the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome in newborns, especially in premature infants with a confirmed diagnosis of hyaline membrane disease. This medication acts as a substitute for pulmonary surfactant, helping to reduce surface tension in the pulmonary alveoli, thus facilitating lung expansion and improving patient oxygenation. Furthermore, it is used in cases of adult respiratory failure where surfactant administration may be beneficial to improve respiratory function.
Composition
Each Curosurf ampule contains 240 mg of porcine lung phospholipids in a sterile solution, ready for administration.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe lung disease that prevents adequate ventilation, or in those with a history of pulmonary hemorrhage or pneumothorax.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Curosurf in patients with coagulation disorders or those receiving anticoagulant treatment. It is important to monitor the patient's respiratory function during and after medication administration. It is also recommended to assess the patient's general condition before surfactant administration.
Storage
Curosurf should be stored at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
