Indications

Cryostatin (Octreotide) is indicated in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors, including carcinoid tumors and pancreatic endocrine tumors. It is also used in the management of symptoms associated with these neoplasms, such as diarrhea and flushing episodes. Furthermore, it can be used in the treatment of acromegaly when surgical treatment is not possible or has failed. Octreotide acts by inhibiting the release of various hormones, which helps control the symptoms related to these conditions.

Composition

Each 5 ml of solution contains: Octreotide 1 mg. Excipients: water for injection, acetic acid, sodium acetate, sodium chloride.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to octreotide or to any of the excipients in the formulation.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with diabetes mellitus, as octreotide can alter glucose metabolism. Care should also be taken in patients with heart disease, as well as in those who require continuous monitoring of thyroid function, as octreotide can affect this function. Regular monitoring of hormone and glucose levels is essential during treatment.

Storage

Store at a temperature between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
