Indications

Combigan-D is indicated for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Its formulation combines two antihypertensive agents: brimonidine, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that reduces aqueous humor production and increases its drainage, and timolol, a beta-blocker that decreases aqueous humor production. This combination allows for an additive effect in reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients requiring additional IOP control.

Composition

Each ml of Combigan-D contains:

  • Brimonidine tartrate: 0.2% (2 mg/ml)
  • Timolol maleate: 0.5% (5 mg/ml)
  • Excipients: sodium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate, monobasic sodium phosphate, purified water.

Contraindications

Combigan-D is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, and in those receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with heart failure, circulatory disorders, diabetes mellitus, and heart diseases. It is important to adequately monitor patients who experience adverse effects such as fatigue, dizziness, or depression. Avoid concomitant use with other medications that may cause a decrease in blood pressure.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
