Indications
Colchiquim (Colchicine) is indicated for the treatment of acute gout, a condition characterized by episodes of severe joint pain due to the accumulation of uric acid crystals. In addition, it is used in the management of autoimmune diseases such as familial Mediterranean fever, as well as to prevent recurrent gout attacks. This medication works by inhibiting inflammation and pain associated with these conditions, providing relief to patients suffering from acute episodes. It can also be used in the treatment of pericarditis, alleviating the symptoms associated with this inflammation of the pericardium.
Composition
Each tablet of Colchiquim contains 1 mg of Colchicine as the active ingredient. Excipients are: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, magnesium stearate and talc.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to colchicine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use should also be avoided in patients with severe renal failure or severe liver disease, as well as in those who are being treated with other medications that may interact with colchicine, such as CYP3A4 inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in the elderly or those with compromised renal function. It is important to monitor liver and kidney function during treatment, and to consider the possibility of adjusting the dose according to the patient's response and the appearance of adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
