Indications
Cefagen is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to cefuroxime. It is used in upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis, otitis media, and bronchitis. It is also effective in skin and soft tissue infections, as well as urinary tract infections. Its use is indicated in pediatric and adult patients requiring specific antibiotic treatment for bacterial infections.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains: Cefuroxime 250 mg. Excipients: sorbitol, citric acid, flavoring, purified water.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any of the components of the formula. Its use should also be avoided in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to penicillins.
Precautions
Cefagen should be used with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. It is important to monitor renal function in patients with renal dysfunction or who are receiving other medications that may affect renal function. In case of allergic reactions, treatment should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Once the suspension is opened, use within 7 days and do not refrigerate.
