Indications
Carnotprim solution is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of various etiologies, including those induced by chemotherapeutic treatments, radiotherapy, and surgery. It is also used in the management of gastrointestinal motility disorders, such as diabetic gastroparesis and gastroesophageal reflux. Furthermore, it is prescribed to facilitate endotracheal intubation in patients requiring surgical intervention.
Composition
Each 100 ml of solution contains 100 mg of metoclopramide as the active ingredient, in addition to the excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Carnotprim is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metoclopramide or any of its components. It should not be administered in cases of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or intestinal perforation. Likewise, it is contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma and in those who experience epileptic seizures.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, depression, or neurological diseases. Its prolonged use can cause adverse effects, so periodic monitoring of the patient during treatment is suggested. It should be avoided in patients with severe renal or hepatic insufficiency without adequate medical supervision.
Storage
Store at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
