Indications
Carnotprim is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting, including those induced by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical procedures. It is also used for the treatment of diabetic gastroparesis and gastroesophageal reflux. Metoclopramide acts as a prokinetic agent, accelerating gastric emptying and improving gastrointestinal motility. It is indicated in patients with gastrointestinal motility disorders who require symptomatic relief.
Composition
Each ampoule contains: Metoclopramide 10 mg, excipients q.s.p. 2 ml.
Contraindications
Carnotprim is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metoclopramide or any component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of gastrointestinal obstruction, perforation, or gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Likewise, it is contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma or those with uncontrolled epilepsy.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of depression, Parkinson's disease, or those who are being treated with other medications that may affect the central nervous system. Prolonged use of metoclopramide can cause adverse effects, such as tardive dyskinesia. The risk-benefit ratio should be evaluated before initiating treatment in these patients.
