Indications
Cardispan Solution 10% is indicated for the treatment of levocarnitine deficiency, which can occur in various clinical conditions affecting fatty acid metabolism, such as primary or secondary deficiencies. It is commonly used in patients requiring support for their energy metabolism, especially those with hereditary metabolic diseases involving the use of fats as an energy source. It has also been used in the management of heart diseases and in conditions where an improvement in muscle function is required. It is recommended to consult your doctor to determine the appropriate dose and treatment duration.
Composition
Each 100 mL of Cardispan contains 10 g of levocarnitine in the form of levocarnitine hydrochloride, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Cardispan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levocarnitine or any of the components of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with severe kidney disease, as levocarnitine is eliminated renally.
Precautions
Renal function should be evaluated before starting treatment with Cardispan. The use of this medication should be supervised by a healthcare professional, especially in patients with coexisting conditions or who are taking other medications that may interact. Side effects are rare but may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
