Indications
Buvacaina Pesada is indicated for regional anesthesia, including epidural anesthesia and peripheral nerve block anesthesia. It is commonly used in surgical procedures and during labor, providing effective and prolonged analgesia. This medication is useful in patients requiring controlled anesthesia, being especially valuable in orthopedic, urological, and obstetric surgical interventions. Bupivacaine, its active component, acts by blocking the conduction of nerve impulses, resulting in a temporary loss of sensation in the administered area.
Composition
Each ml of injectable solution contains: 5 mg Bupivacaine and 8 mg Glucose.
Contraindications
Buvacaina Pesada is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to bupivacaine, as well as in those with infectious or inflammatory diseases at the injection site. It is also contraindicated in patients with coagulation disorders or who are on anticoagulant treatment, and in those who cannot tolerate regional anesthesia.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with cardiovascular, hepatic, or renal diseases. Likewise, monitoring is recommended for elderly or debilitated patients, and those with a history of adverse reactions to local anesthetics. It is essential to follow dosage and administration guidelines to avoid complications.
