Indications
Brintellix is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes in adults. Its action is based on the modulation of serotonin, which can help improve mood and reduce symptoms associated with depression. Its efficacy has also been studied in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, and it has been observed to have a positive effect on the cognitive function of patients with depression. It is important that the use of Brintellix be supervised by a healthcare professional, who will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment according to the individual needs of the patient.
Composition
Each Brintellix tablet contains 10 mg of vortioxetine as an active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Brintellix is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vortioxetine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in patients with a history of manic or hypomanic episodes.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Brintellix to patients with a history of seizures, gastrointestinal disorders, or those taking other medications that affect serotonin. It is advisable to evaluate liver and kidney function before starting treatment. Additionally, if symptoms such as changes in behavior or suicidal thoughts appear, the patient should consult their doctor immediately.
