Indications
Bisoprolol is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, as well as for the management of heart failure and angina pectoris. Its use is effective in controlling heart rate and reducing blood pressure, which helps to decrease the risk of cardiovascular events. This medication acts by selectively blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors, resulting in a decrease in cardiac contractility and heart rate. Additionally, it is used in patients with arrhythmias to improve heart rhythm stability.
Composition
Each Bisoprolol tablet contains 2.50 mg of bisoprolol fumarate as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Bisoprolol is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to bisoprolol or any component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe bradycardia, second or third-degree heart block, sick sinus syndrome, or decompensated heart failure. Likewise, its use is prohibited in patients with bronchial asthma or a history of bronchospasm, as well as in those with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing heart conditions, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as well as in those who will receive general anesthesia. It is essential to monitor blood pressure and heart rate during treatment. In case of any adverse reaction, it is recommended to consult a physician.
