Indications
Biofurin is indicated in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. This medication is effective against various strains of bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, and Staphylococcus aureus. It is commonly used in cases of cystitis and acute pyelonephritis, as well as in recurrent urinary tract infections. Nitrofurantoin works by interfering with protein synthesis and energy production in bacteria, leading to their death. This medication is most effective when used for acute infections and should be administered under the supervision of a physician.
Composition
Each Biofurin capsule contains 100 mg of nitrofurantoin as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients necessary for the capsule's formulation.
Contraindications
Biofurin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitrofurantoin or any other component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency, a history of interstitial lung diseases related to nitrofurantoin use, and during pregnancy, especially in the last trimester.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, as there is a risk of hemolysis. Renal function monitoring is also recommended in patients using the medication for prolonged periods. In case of symptoms of pulmonary toxicity or allergic reactions, treatment should be discontinued immediately.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
