Indications
Biodid (Metformin) is indicated in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, as a component of a therapeutic regimen that includes diet and exercise. It is used in overweight adult patients and children over 10 years of age to improve glycemic control. It can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin. Metformin helps reduce hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, which contributes to the normalization of blood glucose levels.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Metformin (as hydrochloride) 850 mg.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in patients with severe renal insufficiency, dehydration, metabolic acidosis, or diabetic ketoacidosis. Its use is also contraindicated in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases, acute infections, or conditions that may alter kidney function.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal insufficiency, liver disease, or those with conditions that may predispose to lactic acidosis. It is important to regularly monitor kidney function in patients taking metformin, especially in those undergoing treatments that may affect kidney function. The use of metformin is not recommended in situations of acute stress, such as severe infections or surgery, without adequate medical supervision.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
