Indications

Binotal is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to ampicillin. These include, but are not limited to, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, meningitis, and sepsis. It is effective against a variety of gram-positive and some gram-negative microorganisms. Ampicillin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial death. It is important to perform a culture and sensitivity test before initiating treatment, to ensure that the causative microorganism is susceptible to ampicillin.

Composition

Each Binotal capsule contains 500 mg of ampicillin as ampicillin trihydrate, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation. It is recommended to review the product leaflet for detailed information on the excipients used.

Contraindications

Binotal is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ampicillin or other antibiotics of the penicillin group. It is also contraindicated in those with a history of severe allergic reactions to any component of the formula. In addition, caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, as dose adjustment may be necessary.

Precautions

Before starting treatment with Binotal, the patient's medical history should be evaluated, especially for antibiotic allergies. During treatment, it is recommended to monitor renal and hepatic function, as well as the appearance of adverse reactions. In case the patient develops severe diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.
