Indications
Beneventol is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to cefixime. This medicine is effective in the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including sinusitis, acute otitis media, and bronchitis. It is also useful in the management of urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and pyelonephritis, as well as in the prophylaxis of postsurgical infections in urological procedures. Its use is recommended in patients with infections caused by strains of bacteria sensitive to cefixime, which include, among others, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Composition
Each Beneventol capsule contains 400 mg of cefixime, as well as excipients suitable for the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefixime, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. It should also be avoided in individuals with a history of anaphylactic reactions to these drugs. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Beneventol to patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. It is essential to monitor renal function in those patients receiving prolonged treatment. Furthermore, the risk of superinfection by non-susceptible organisms, which can occur with prolonged antibiotic use, should be considered. In case of severe or persistent diarrhea, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
