Indications
Bactrim is indicated in the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is commonly used for urinary tract infections, acute and chronic bronchitis, Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia, gastrointestinal infections, and for the prophylaxis of infections in immunocompromised patients. Additionally, it is effective in the treatment of otitis media and sinusitis.
Composition
Each Bactrim tablet contains 400 mg of sulfamethoxazole and 80 mg of trimethoprim as active ingredients. Excipients include: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that allow for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Bactrim is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, severe hepatic or renal insufficiency, and in those with a history of folate-induced megaloblastic anemia. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless the benefit outweighs the risk.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease, as well as in those with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. Renal and hematological function should be monitored during prolonged treatment. Furthermore, it is essential to avoid sun exposure, as it may increase the risk of adverse skin reactions.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
