Indications
Bactiver is a medication indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to the action of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is used in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, and certain gastrointestinal infections. It can also be used in the treatment of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia in immunocompromised patients.
Composition
Each 5 ml of solution contains: 200 mg of sulfamethoxazole and 40 mg of trimethoprim.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of severe adverse reactions, especially skin reactions. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure and during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hematological diseases, as the use of Bactiver may be associated with adverse blood reactions such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. Monitoring of blood counts is recommended during prolonged treatments. Likewise, sun exposure should be avoided, as it can increase skin sensitivity. In case of symptoms such as fever, skin rashes, or general discomfort, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
