Indications
Azarga is indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. This medication combines two agents: brinzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and timolol, a beta-blocker. It works by reducing the production of aqueous humor, which helps to lower intraocular pressure. It is important that the use of Azarga be carried out under medical supervision, thus ensuring appropriate treatment and monitoring of the response to it.
Composition
Each milliliter of Azarga contains 10 mg of brinzolamide and 5 mg of timolol, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation. The combination of these components allows for a synergistic action in reducing intraocular pressure, providing an effective therapeutic option for patients with specific ophthalmic conditions.
Contraindications
Azarga is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula or to other beta-blockers. It should not be used in patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe bradycardia, or second and third-degree heart block, without a pacemaker. Likewise, its use should be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency or metabolic disorders that may be aggravated by the components of the medication.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and thyroid diseases. It is essential to inform the doctor about any other medication the patient is using, as well as about relevant medical history. Azarga should be used with care in patients who experience dry eyes, as it may aggravate this condition.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
