Indications

Avirena is indicated in the treatment of arterial hypertension. The combination of olmesartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide acts synergistically to reduce blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that helps relax blood vessels. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that helps decrease vascular resistance, while hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that eliminates excess sodium and water from the body, thus helping to control blood pressure. Its use is recommended in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy.

Composition

Each Avirena tablet contains: Olmesartan medoxomil 40 mg, Amlodipine 10 mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, excipients q.s.

Contraindications

Avirena is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin receptor antagonists. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure or who present with anuria.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hepatic insufficiency, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, or in those who are being treated with other antihypertensives. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and serum electrolytes, especially potassium and sodium, is recommended during treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
