Indications
Atromcor is indicated as an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial) and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with established coronary artery disease or in those with type 2 diabetes and other risk factors. Additionally, it is recommended for the prevention of atherosclerosis in individuals at high risk of cardiovascular disease, such as patients with hypertension, obesity, or a family history of premature heart disease.
Composition
Each tablet contains 20 mg of atorvastatin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients such as lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, starch, talc, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Atromcor is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations of transaminases. Likewise, it is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women, and in those who are receiving certain medications such as gemfibrozil.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease or excessive alcohol consumption. It is important to perform liver function tests before and during treatment. Care should also be taken in patients with untreated hypothyroidism and in those with a history of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
