Indications

Atorvastatin is indicated for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used in the prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients, including those with established coronary heart disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus, as well as in reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and other cardiovascular complications.

Composition

Each tablet contains 20 mg of atorvastatin as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, including hepatitis and persistent elevations of transaminases, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and in those taking other medications that may interact with atorvastatin. It is important to monitor transaminase levels and lipid profile during treatment.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
