Indications

Arfla is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by organisms susceptible to rifaximin. It is particularly effective in the management of traveler's diarrhea, as well as in reducing episodes of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with chronic liver disease. It is also used in the treatment of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, contributing to the restoration of normal intestinal flora.

Composition

Each tablet contains 550 mg of rifaximin as the active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, among others.

Contraindications

Arfla is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rifaximin or any other component of the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with diarrhea caused by systemic bacterial infections or in those with active ulcerative colitis.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, as there may be an increased risk of adverse effects. It is important to evaluate renal function before starting treatment and adjust the dose if necessary. Additionally, care should be taken when using this medication in patients over 65 years of age and in those taking other medications that may interact with rifaximin.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
