Indications
Aretaeus is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive episodes in the context of bipolar disorder. Its efficacy has been demonstrated in reducing psychotic symptoms and in the management of manic and mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder. In addition, it is used as an adjunctive treatment for major depression in adults, when antidepressants alone are not sufficient.
Composition
Each Aretaeus tablet contains 25 mg of quetiapine, in addition to excipients such as lactose, starch, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Aretaeus is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of antidepressant-induced manic episodes or in those at high risk of suicide.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver or kidney disease, and in those receiving other medications that may affect liver function. It is important to monitor for the appearance of adverse effects, including extrapyramidal symptoms and weight gain. The risk of neuroleptic malignant syndrome and the need for dose adjustment in the elderly population should also be considered.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
