Indications
Amifarin is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by dicloxacillin-susceptible bacteria, including but not limited to respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and some urinary tract infections. This medication is also used in the treatment of staphylococcal infections, as well as in cases of bacterial endocarditis. It is essential that the use of Amifarin be based on the susceptibility of the microorganism responsible for the infection, and it is recommended to perform cultures and susceptibility tests before administration to ensure its effectiveness.
Composition
Each Amifarin capsule contains 250 mg of dicloxacillin, in addition to excipients to form the capsule.
Contraindications
Amifarin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dicloxacillin, other penicillin-family antibiotics, or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe liver disease or renal failure without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergies to other antibiotics. Prolonged administration of antibiotics can lead to superinfection by non-susceptible microorganisms. Additionally, it is recommended to evaluate renal and hepatic function before initiating treatment. It is important to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun or ultraviolet light, as dicloxacillin can increase skin sensitivity to light.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry and cool place. Keep out of reach of children.
