Indications

Amidone is indicated in the treatment of severe acute and chronic pain, as well as in the management of opioid dependence. It is also used in the treatment of patients who require effective pain control in oncological conditions and in situations where other analgesics have not been effective. Methadone acts as an analgesic, in addition to having properties that help in the detoxification of opioid substances, thus facilitating the reduction of withdrawal symptoms.

Composition

Each Amidone tablet contains 40 mg of methadone (as methadone hydrochloride) as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others, which allow for the proper formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

Amidone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to methadone or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in patients with severe respiratory problems, as well as in those with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency. Its use in combination with other central nervous system depressants must be carefully evaluated.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of seizure disorders, as well as in those with pulmonary diseases, as the use of methadone can affect respiratory function. Use in the elderly should be carried out under strict medical supervision due to the increased risk of adverse reactions. The possibility of dependence and abuse should also be taken into account, given that it is a potent opioid.

Storage

Amidone should be stored in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
