Indications

Afungil (fluconazole) is indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections caused by susceptible fungi. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Oral and esophageal candidiasis
  • Vaginal candidiasis
  • Systemic candidiasis
  • Cryptococcal meningitis in immunocompromised patients
  • Prevention of fungal infections in patients with prolonged neutropenia

Fluconazole acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to the death of the fungus. It is effective against a variety of fungal species, providing adequate treatment for infections that could be complicated or recurrent.

Composition

Each Afungil capsule contains 100 mg of fluconazole as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.

Contraindications

Afungil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluconazole or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with severe liver disease, as drug metabolism may be affected.

Precautions

It is recommended to perform liver function tests before starting treatment and to monitor during therapy, especially in patients with a history of liver disease. Caution should also be exercised in patients receiving other medications that may interact with fluconazole, increasing the risk of adverse effects.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
  3. In case of oversized items, the corresponding fee will apply according to the parcel service.
