Indications
Tronium IV is indicated for the treatment of conditions related to gastric hyperacidity. It is used in the management of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as in the prevention of ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in patients who cannot receive oral treatment. This medication works by inhibiting the proton pump in the parietal cells of the stomach, thereby reducing gastric acid production.
Composition
Each Tronium IV ampoule contains 40 mg of esomeprazole in the form of esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate.
Contraindications
Tronium IV is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, other proton pump inhibitors, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those presenting symptoms of gastric malignancy, as treatment with esomeprazole may mask the symptoms of these conditions. The risk of gastrointestinal infections such as Clostridium difficile should also be considered in patients receiving long-term treatment with proton pump inhibitors.
