Indications
Lyrica is indicated for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy, which is nerve damage caused by diabetes. It is also used in the management of neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injuries. Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and associated symptoms such as fatigue and sleep problems. Furthermore, Lyrica is also prescribed for the treatment of partial epileptic seizures in adults, as adjunctive therapy in epilepsy patients who are not adequately controlled with other antiepileptic drugs.
Composition
Each capsule contains:
- Pregabalin: 300 mg
- Excipients: Lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or to any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency or in those undergoing dialysis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of substance abuse, as Lyrica may have abuse potential. It is important to monitor patients who exhibit symptoms of depression or suicidal thoughts. Caution should also be exercised in patients with renal insufficiency, adjusting the dose as needed.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature (between 15 and 30 °C). Keep out of reach of children.
