Indications
Bicarnat (Sodium Bicarbonate) is indicated for the treatment of metabolic acidosis, which can occur in conditions such as renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, and certain intoxications. This medication can also be used as an alkalinizing agent in clinical situations requiring the correction of acid-base balance. Its use is common in emergency situations, such as in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, where maintaining an adequate pH in the body is crucial. Furthermore, it can be employed to neutralize gastric acidity in patients presenting symptoms of gastric acidosis or hyperacidity.
Composition
Each ampoule bottle of Bicarnat contains: Sodium Bicarbonate 7.5% in sterile solution for intravenous use.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in patients with respiratory or metabolic alkalosis, as well as in those with hypokalemia or edema due to heart failure. Caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing heart or kidney diseases.
Precautions
It is recommended to use Bicarnat with caution in patients with renal insufficiency, as bicarbonate accumulation can lead to metabolic alkalosis. Additionally, it is essential to monitor electrolyte levels during treatment. Continuous monitoring of the patient's condition and dose adjustment, if necessary, is suggested.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
