Indications
Toujeo is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults and children aged 6 years and older. It is used to control blood glucose levels in patients who require insulin for the management of their condition. It is a long-acting insulin that provides effective glycemic control throughout the day, helping to prevent episodes of hyperglycemia and maintain glucose levels within a target range.
The use of Toujeo may be considered in patients who do not achieve adequate control with other insulins or oral antidiabetic drugs, as well as in those who require a basal insulin regimen.
Composition
Each mL of Toujeo contains 300 Units of insulin glargine, in addition to excipients that aid in its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Toujeo is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to insulin glargine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in situations of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
It is important to regularly monitor blood glucose levels. Possible interactions with other medications should be considered, and the Toujeo dose should be adjusted according to the patient's individual needs. Patients should be informed about the signs of hypoglycemia and how to act in this situation.
Storage
Store in a refrigerator between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Once opened, Toujeo can be stored at room temperature (not above 30 °C) and should be used within 42 days after opening.
