Indications

Saxenda (liraglutide) is indicated as an adjunct to a balanced diet and increased physical activity for weight management in adults with obesity (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 30 kg/m²) or overweight (BMI ≥ 27 kg/m²) in the presence of weight-related comorbidities. Additionally, it is used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, in combination with other antidiabetic agents, when these fail to achieve adequate control.

Composition

Each Saxenda pen contains 6 mg/ml of liraglutide as the active ingredient, along with excipients that allow for its proper formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to liraglutide or any of the components of the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of pancreatitis or those with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with gastrointestinal diseases, severe kidney diseases, or those that may increase the risk of pancreatitis. Renal function should be monitored during treatment. Additionally, care should be taken in patients with a history of depression or eating disorders, as Saxenda may affect mood and eating behavior.

Storage

Store in refrigeration at a temperature of 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze. Once in use, the pen can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for a maximum of 30 days. Keep out of reach of children.

  1. Free home delivery by local branches on orders over $1000. Otherwise, a $50 fee will be added in the cities of Querétaro and La Paz, BCS, and $150 in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, BCS.
  2. FREE national shipping via ground on orders over $1,500.00. Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
  3. In case of oversized items, the corresponding fee will apply according to the parcel service.
