Indications
Ponstan is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate pain, including menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), as well as for the relief of symptoms associated with inflammatory conditions. This medication works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are responsible for inflammation and pain. Additionally, it can be used in the management of fever in some clinical conditions. It is important to follow the healthcare professional's instructions for its proper and safe use.
Composition
Each Ponstan tablet contains 500 mg of mefenamic acid as an active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its presentation and stability.
Contraindications
Ponstan is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to mefenamic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It should not be administered to patients with active peptic ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or bleeding disorders. Its use is not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy and in patients with severe kidney disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Ponstan to patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, liver or kidney disease, as well as those taking other medications that may interact. Medical monitoring is recommended for prolonged treatments. Use in children under 14 years of age should be evaluated by a doctor.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
