Indications
Paxil CR is a medication indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Paroxetine acts on neurotransmitters in the brain, helping to balance serotonin levels, which can improve mood and reduce anxiety. It is important that this medication be used under the supervision of a specialist physician.
Composition
Each Paxil CR tablet contains 12.5 mg of paroxetine as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
The use of Paxil CR is not recommended in patients with known hypersensitivity to paroxetine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is contraindicated in patients who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have stopped taking MAOIs less than 14 days ago. Likewise, it is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Special care should be taken when prescribing Paxil CR to patients with a history of seizure disorders, liver or kidney disease, and those with a history of mania or bipolar disorder. Continuous patient monitoring is important to adjust the dose according to treatment response and the appearance of side effects.
