Indications
Norvas is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure. Reducing blood pressure can decrease the risk of cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke. It is also used in the management of angina pectoris, improving exercise tolerance and reducing the frequency of angina episodes. This medication acts as a calcium channel blocker, resulting in the relaxation of blood vessels and a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance.
Composition
Each Norvas tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as lactose, corn starch, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Norvas is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with cardiogenic shock, severe heart failure, or severe aortic stenosis. Its use in pregnant women should only be considered if the potential benefit justifies the risk to the fetus.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Norvas to patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as those with a history of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease. It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure during treatment. Concomitant use with CYP3A4 inhibitors is not recommended, as this may increase plasma amlodipine levels.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep the product in its original packaging and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
