Indications
Mistan is indicated for the treatment of various painful and inflammatory conditions. It is used in the management of acute and chronic pain associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and postoperative pain. It is also prescribed for the treatment of pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea. Its mechanism of action is based on the selective inhibition of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which reduces the production of prostaglandins, responsible for inflammation and pain.
Composition
Each Mistan tablet contains 120 mg of etoricoxib as the active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, lactose, among others.
Contraindications
Mistan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or any component of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to NSAIDs, as well as those with a history of active gastric or intestinal ulcer, severe renal insufficiency, severe hepatic insufficiency, and decompensated cardiovascular disease.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of arterial hypertension, heart failure, or previous gastrointestinal problems. Regular monitoring of renal and hepatic function during treatment is recommended. Prolonged use without appropriate medical evaluation is not recommended. In addition, it should be used with caution in the elderly and patients with autoimmune diseases.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
